Loyal Subjects
With new players entering the aesthetics industry in record numbers, salons are increasingly spoiled for choice when it comes to products and suppliers. This is resulting in a highly competitive market, where securing salon loyalty is paramount to the survival of goods and service providers.
THE NATURAL SOURCE
At The Natural Source, we believe the key to initiating and maintaining product loyalty at the salon level is by offering excellent naturopathic and wellness products married with expert advice. Pure and simple common sense, excellent product and polite, happy service are what we offer...
To maintain a competitive edge in this industry, we need to promote a professional point of difference that incorporates the best advice with outstanding products.
Naturopathic skin, hair and body care promotes the body taking what it needs from a product, rather than the product masking a condition. TNS believes because skin and hair change condition regularly, in tune with our health and wellness levels, beauty products need to match these natural variations...
In addition, the versatility and performance of products in both the spa and take-home environments help to link salon treatments to follow-up skin, hair and body care at home. This encourages loyalty not only in the salon, but in the client's day-to-day beauty routine.

Hi-Shine Super-Shine Mask
...from INSTYLE, AUSTRALIA - November-December, 2008
We're All Goin' On A... Summer Holiday
While summer spells days of frolicking on the beach, afternoons cradling a drink in the local beer garden and hours outdoors exercising to fit that fab Pucci print bikini, spare a thought for hair, already dry after winter's cold snap, it will soon be exposed to even more damaging elements...
THE NATURAL SOURCE Hi-Shine Super Shine Mask is protein packed and adds a moisture boost to hair, with added sun protection.

...from SUNDAY MAGAZINE, AUSTRALIA - 23 November, 2008
(story by Carla Oates, edited from 2 page spread)
Beauty, Mate - Amid the financial meltdown, the beauty stars from Down Under are set to shine.
While the credit crunch crisis cascades down on business worldwide, the Australian beauty industry can bask under a canopy of unique brilliance in the cosmetic arena...
"So far so good," says Denise Eaton, senior export advisor for Austrade. "While our domestic market is slowly growing, our brands are blitzing it offshore, and recent sales show interest isn't waning. The Aussie brand is very strong. We're seen as the new Switzerland - green and clean. We produce high-quality products, at a good price. Eco chic is huge overseas, and we're seen as a leader in this area..."
"Our immaculate reputation is the main driver, but online purchasing channels have also pumped up the sales", says Tim Harcourt, chief economist for Austrade (The Australian Trade Commission).
The way Australian products are being marketed overseas also fits in nicely with global changes in the culture of skincare. Market research company Euromonitor notes that, as part of an increased interest for health and wellness, consumers are adopting a more holistic approach to skincare. Not only do people want paraben-free products, they're also aware that using natural ingredients can assist with cell renewal, anti-aging and repair.
In a beauty world obsessed with antioxidants, our indigenous plants have huge appeal. They grow in tough climatic conditions and, as a result, are loaded with protective plant chemicals that possess powerful healing and protective qualities. Aborigines have been using them as medicine for thousands of years. In fact, they boast some of the highest levels of antioxidants found in the plant world, making them great additions to cosmetic formulations. Standouts include Kakadu plum, wild rosella, lilly pilly berry and pepperberry. Other ingredients in demand include emu oil and macadamia nut oil, for their moisturising and repairing properties, and the zingy and antiseptic quality in tea tree, eucalyptus and lemon myrtle. Native extracts star in many Australian brands including...The Natural Source, Daintree...
The sparkling reputation of our more established natural brands offshore - such as The Natural Source... have no doubt helped to pave the way for fledgling natural Aussie brands to launch internationally...

Camouflage Colour Outback Rose Cheek Colour
...from GIRLFRIEND, AUSTRALIA - December, 2008
Summer Face
Pink About It
Ah pink, our old friend. It needs no introduction, but instead of smackers taking all the glory, it's time to show a bit of cheek. The Ralph Lauren spring/summer show flushed models with reddy/pink, but we suggest keeping it young and avoiding "blush stripes" by applying to the apples and blending back to the temples.

Clippings - Cosmoprof North America
America the Beautiful
Cosmoprof North America 2008 showcased the new and the niche - with a special focus on Australian brands.
From a land Down Under:
Australian brands on show at Cosmoprof
Dr Robert Ippaso, CEO and Founder, The Natural Source:
"The Natural Source had a very successful showing at Cosmoprof North America, with a number of well qualified international and US parties showing considerable interest. What the attendees noticed most was how The Natural Source completely fits the bill of being able to offer much more than just the 'natural' segment under the one holistic brand.
As with all new markets, we'll need a few months before agreements are finalised and the doors opened to specific new markets, however we look forward to to a very busy future in the international beauty arena over the next year."

Hi-Shine Shaper
...from Q MAGAZINE, AUSTRALIA - October 2008
Q Grooming: Your Q & A Section
Q. What can I do to help improve the health of my hair and scalp?
The first step to keeping your hair and scalp in top, healthy condition is to be gentle. When washing your hair, use warm water - if the water is too hot or cold, it can damage your hair and scalp. Gently massage shampoo into your hair - avoid rubbing too vigorously, which can damage the hair shaft and irritate your scalp - and always follow with a conditioner, as this helps smooth the hair shaft and protect hair from environmental damage. When styling, look for products with natural ingredients to help maintain the health of your hair and scalp - synthetic styling products can irritate your scalp.

The Natural Source Organics Pure Essential Oils
...from BRISBANE NEWS, AUSTRALIA - 8-14 October, 2008
The Good Oil
I am a big believer in the effects of essential oils - whether they are blended into massage oils or diluted in an oil burner, there's nothing more uplifting than citrus or calming than lavender. It's best to choose oils with nothing synthetic whatsoever - then they might actually do what they say they do. Try the wonderful range by The Natural Source, which are organic... Try Lavandin to balance emotional energy after a long day, pure Neroli to combat anxiety or Ylang Ylang to relax the mind. Apparently, if you're on a quest to lose weight, Juniper Berry's purifying properties can come in handy, and if you need relief from PMS, give comforting Chamomile a go.

Camouflage Colour Blue Lengthening Waterproof Mascara
...from GIRLFRIEND, AUSTRALIA - October 2008
Pretty Girl
American Girl
Estelle may love her "American boy", but we reckon it's the American girls who've got it goin' on. And it seems Heatherette agrees, with the designer's S/S '08 collection thick with star spangled glory. Chanel took the patriotism to the next level, complementing outfits with eyes washed in blue, and lips painted flag-red. But unless you want to look like an 80's reject, here's a tip: keep the blue slightly smoky and the lip just glossed in a sheer berry red.
